Pros

Salary and benefits are fairly good for Hualien.

Basic labor insurance, health insurance, 6% pension contribution, annual leave, year-end bonus, and bonuses for the three major holidays.

Salary is around NT$35,000.

The advantage is that the company’s systems are not well established, so

Cons

The boss likes to make grand promises and take advantage of small opportunities, and favors a supervisor with 30 years of experience who likes to cause trouble.

(The boss has drivers bring back defective products that should have been scrapped, removes the packaging, and then asks colleagues in the fruit market to sell them individually. Otherwise, products such as tofu and tofu pudding are taken out of the freezer and packaged at room temperature outside the storage area, with absolutely no regard for food-storage conditions.)

The company specializes in the distribution of fresh produce requiring rehydration, frozen and refrigerated products, processed foods, and delivery to retail channels. No one cares about or follows the work-environment requirements and precautions that should be observed.

Office staff, warehouse staff, and drivers—no one is willing to make changes to improve work efficiency.

The vast majority of drivers (apart from two or three) are extremely selfish, have poor work habits, and cooperate poorly.

Warehouse staff (most of them simply coast, drift along, and often procrastinate, waiting for others to help).

The company has significant food-safety problems, allowing order-picking staff and drivers to turn off the freezer power while handling goods, leave the freezer door closed during the process, or even leave it wide open, showing no concern whatsoever for the temperature of the storage environment.
