I applied for a graphic design position, and the manager explained that the company’s main source of profit comes from government contracts.
This is actually the industry I’m looking for, but I have no comment on the interview process.
Before the interview, I had to fill out my personal information and a questionnaire. One question asked about my mode of transportation. Since the company is very close to an MRT station, I wrote “MRT.”
I didn’t expect this question to be brought up for discussion. They kept asking about my commute time and why I didn’t ride a motorcycle if I had one, etc. (Was I expected to be available at a moment’s notice?)
The rest of the questionnaire was even more alarming. Here are a few questions I remember:
For management shortcomings: 1. Proactively offer suggestions 2. Protest 3. Remain silent
Methods of reward: 1. Verbal praise 2. Medals 3. Bonuses 4. Time off
Just looking at the questions made me feel intense emotional manipulation and pressure. Although the interview itself went quite smoothly, I later politely declined the offer.
