Colleagues look out for one another

HR seems completely incompetent, as if they are just collecting a paycheck while lying down... During the interview, I specifically asked about overtime. HR replied very cautiously that the situation differed from branch to branch and that, basically, there was not much overtime at any of them. After all, as HR, they should know employees’ working hours. However, they had already planned to assign me to the branch with the most serious overtime situation and highest turnover, without telling me at the time. Anyway, all I can say is that during my first two months there, I really worked overtime every day until 11 or 12 p.m., and sometimes even past 1 a.m., before leaving the branch... Of course, reporting it to HR got me nowhere~~~~ Apparently, the regional manager came to check on the working situation, but when it came to supporting the branch, at most they stayed from opening in the morning until 2 p.m. before leaving!! Hello~~ After 2 p.m. is exactly when customers gradually start coming in. What are you doing disappearing halfway through the afternoon????? Emphasizing how hardworking and outstanding you are???

I really don’t understand. Shift work at a branch mostly involves handling routine store operations and sales—everything is the same every day—so how can there still be constant overtime? Are sales really good enough to require overtime every single day???

Later, because the overtime situation was so serious, they even shifted the start time later. In the end, I still had to leave at 11 or 12 every night. Of course, with HR being so incompetent, they would never tell you in advance; either they genuinely didn’t know or they were pretending to be clueless~

The comments below are all true. Think very carefully before joining this “Japanese company”~~ The Japanese managers at headquarters really will not speak Chinese to you at all (they may be able to, but they have no intention of speaking Chinese with you), so communication is impossible. Only consider working there if your Japanese is fluent enough to argue~~
