Pros

The store environment is clean and comfortable, and the air conditioning is very cool.

Cons

1: Illegally deducts employees’ meal-break wages in violation of the Labor Standards Act (this was not clearly stated during the contract hiring process).

2: Because you are capable and have strong professional skills, if you do not provide them to the company for free, your supervisor will absurdly label you as someone afraid of being taken advantage of.

3: On the surface, they claim to respect design copyrights when developing products, but behind the scenes they aggressively copy other brands.

4: The supervisor does nothing all day but threaten you, saying that if you fail to meet any target, your pay will be docked as punishment.

5: They fail to manage what actually needs managing, but all day long make exaggerated, obsessive-compulsive demands that people clean dust that is practically invisible and keep warehouse items off the floor… How are you supposed to organize and pick orders if nothing can be on the floor? (A warehouse is not for appearances.)

3: Every week, they drastically change the warehouse order and store displays according to their mood, making it difficult for employees to find items, and then blame the employees for the problem. It is completely absurd. (They change things so much that even they cannot find where they put them—what standing do they have to demand this of others?)

4: There is no flexibility in scheduling. The company can suddenly transfer you to another store or change your hours without any discussion or coordination. (Illegal.)

6: The bonus targets are raised substantially every month, so they are impossible to earn, and then they use grandiose rhetoric about how we are all working passionately together and making sacrifices. (So apparently employees are supposed to put up with this.)

7: They calculate wages arbitrarily and secretly invent improper pay categories. When they are caught, they brazenly say, “Why don’t you report us, then?”

8: Prices and promotions undergo too many major changes every month, with countless different terms, and the details of the promotions are not explained, making it difficult for frontline staff to do their jobs.

9: Because the company has a lot of a sordid history it is afraid people will find out about, the stores keep changing their names, as if that could hide everything.

10: The second-generation owner and the only supervisor spend all day suspecting other people.

11: Some coworkers especially love to sow discord, so be careful. (They are all trusted insiders.)

12: Training consists of dumping a few extremely rudimentary documents on you and calling it a day, then immediately sending you into battle alone on a shift. You learn through mistakes, and then they give you a hard time about it. (Truly) an industry first.

In short, if you are thinking of joining, I sincerely urge you to think twice.
