Pros

Going to an interview in flip-flops is truly absurd,

with such poor taste causing great alarm.

Dumping work onto applicants’ shoulders,

and assigning take-home presentations is truly improper.

One must ask: if interviews are this discourteous,

how can applicants possibly remain at ease?

Companies’ demands are as numerous as hairs on an ox;

workplace ethics must be taken into consideration.

The interview process feels like child’s play,

and the complete lack of respect is heartbreaking.

Jobs are hard to find and competition is fierce,

yet applicants encounter interviewers so lacking in decorum.

Aspiring young people travel far and wide,

working tirelessly to secure a position.

I hope companies will show more sincerity;

only by respecting talent can they endure.

Cons

Some interviewers are not only sloppily dressed, but even require interviewees to take their work home, complete it, and prepare a presentation to report on it. Such behavior not only demonstrates contempt for applicants, but also challenges workplace ethics.

An interview is originally a two-way selection process and should be built on mutual respect. However, when interviewers treat applicants unprofessionally and require them to complete additional unpaid work, they are unquestionably wasting applicants’ time and energy. In such circumstances, applicants experience tremendous pressure and may also begin to question the company’s culture and values.

Furthermore, requiring applicants to complete actual work tasks before they have been employed skirts the edge of legality and may even violate relevant provisions of the Labor Standards Act. According to the Labor Standards Act, all labor performed should receive corresponding compensation, and companies must not require people who have not been employed to perform unpaid labor.

Companies should provide a fair and impartial interview environment and maintain basic respect and courtesy toward every applicant. Only in this way can they attract truly outstanding talent and establish a positive corporate image.

Interviews are an important part of the job-search process. I hope every company will take this seriously and provide a professional, friendly interview environment where applicants can demonstrate their abilities rather than feel exploited and unfairly treated. I hope these practices will prompt companies to reflect and improve, making the workplace more positive and fair.
