Pros

The HR staff were polite and kind, making a very good first impression. They also gave me product samples.

Cons

This year, there was an opening for a Marketing Planning Specialist, supposedly due to expansion. The HR representative was very courteous and friendly, but it was unclear whether the direct supervisor actually wanted to hire someone or drive candidates away. HR said the supervisor would explain the job duties, but upon arrival, the supervisor only asked whether the candidate had any questions. How could a candidate know what to ask when you had not yet explained the job responsibilities or the actual work involved? But asking was pointless anyway, because the supervisor was extremely terse and kept repeating that I should look at the company’s official website, using a commanding tone as if reading it would make me understand everything on my own. The job itself was still not explained, and the supervisor continued asking, “What other questions do you have?” By the end, I still had no idea what the job was supposed to involve. Honestly, if you are going to be so unfriendly toward interviewees, you really should not post openings and recruit people. Even if you are dissatisfied with a candidate from the outset, please still show basic courtesy and respect and fulfill the responsibilities expected of your job. The interviewee had not offended your company; they were simply an ordinary job seeker who needed an income. Everyone has to make a living. After spending time coming to the interview, the candidate was not even given a basic explanation of the job duties—what exactly had they done to offend your company? Moreover, HR did not even have a clear understanding of which department or company needed to recruit for what position, and the job posting differed greatly from what was discussed in the interview. It was an extremely poor interview experience from the very beginning, so one can only imagine what it would be like after joining the company.
