HR is very good at lowballing salaries during interviews—they want the horse to run but won't feed it. Managers serve you an all-you-can-eat buffet of empty promises. Turnover is quite high, and you may even suspect they are just harvesting personal data. Many colleagues have jumped ship to competitors; just ask around and you'll know~
