Cons

1. A family business; the worst offenders are all family members.

2. If you leave work on time, the COO will ask where you are going.

3. During the interview, the COO will not specifically tell you the salary, and the employment contract after joining does not clearly state it either. You only find out when you receive your salary after starting work. If you raise this with the COO, you will only be told, “I told you this amount from the beginning.” (It is usually lower than the amount discussed initially; I don’t know whether this violates labor laws.)

4. The salary and benefits are different from what is listed on the recruitment website. (I don’t know if they are too low to disclose, so they are always listed as negotiable.)

5. The salary is only slightly higher than that of the store employees they hire, but the work you do is two or three times as much as theirs.

6. The appointed managers are visibly less capable than the other people on the team, and their desks are always placed at the back so they can browse shopping websites or other social networking pages.

7. When the COO wants someone to come to the office, they do not use the internal telephone to notify them, but shout loudly instead. They also loudly criticize problematic vendors in the office, as if working at a marketplace. (The COO speaks with a distinctly Chinese accent and behaves like a Chinese auntie.)

8. There are often many meetings. After a consensus is reached, the decision may suddenly be reversed a few days later, wasting the time spent in the earlier meetings.

9. The COO stipulates that there are only three opportunities to take leave over a three-month period (only one day of leave may be taken per month). Each time you request leave and go to sign the leave form, you will also be asked where you are going, what you are doing, and who you are going with.

10. The quarterly evaluation form, completed once every three months, states that employees are not allowed to gather and chat (like working at an elementary school).

11. On the surface, the COO encourages subordinates with praise, but complains about them to family members behind their backs. Even when family members perform very poorly, the COO praises them in front of everyone, while complaining to subordinates behind their backs about the difficulties of being tied to a family business. (Two-faced.)

12. Run away quickly.
