On the day of the interview, I was first interviewed by an HR manager who had joined the company three months earlier. Since they were still quite inexperienced, they were unable to answer some of my questions. However, because the company’s industry was the same as my current employer’s, we had a fairly good conversation. Next was an interview with an associate manager, but they made me wait for over half an hour before starting. During that time, the HR staff and HR assistant felt bad about making me wait and asked whether I wanted to continue waiting or reschedule. Although I was stunned, I had already taken time off, so I decided to wait.
After finally finishing the meeting, the associate manager came in. Some of the questions during the interview felt like they were simply trying to extract operational management experience from someone in the same industry. At one point, they even called the company’s IT staff in and asked me to provide solutions for their reference. In the end, they said they would add me on LINE. Since I initially thought the opportunity was very promising, I was ultimately disappointed when there was no follow-up.
I interviewed there many years ago, and all of the internal managers have since been replaced, which suggests that turnover among the management team is high. The head of information technology at the time left, and the position has never been filled. Perhaps the company has managed to operate this way for many years, so it is not in a hurry to hire anyone, and it is also unclear what they want the person they hire to help with. Anyone considering an interview should think twice; it may simply be a waste of time.
