Pros

- High opportunities to see product projects brought to fruition, making it easy to build a portfolio.

- Suitable for junior PMs as a stepping stone to build their skills and learn project planning and development processes. However, considering the growth potential of a PM career, staying for too long is not recommended.

- Develop high EQ and resilience under pressure (when dealing with more hot-tempered and impatient RDs, don't be overly sensitive).

Cons

- Requirements and product strategy are mostly directed top-down by the boss. PMs are responsible only for delivery and execution; asking too many strategic questions or having too many opinions will get you reprimanded by your manager. (I once tried to discuss suggestions for improving a feature with a senior manager and was scolded for being presumptuous.)

- The project development approach is very waterfall-like (although I don't think agile is necessarily better). Overtime is often required to meet project launch deadlines, resulting in a poor work-life balance.

- The company invests relatively few resources in tracking the results of feature launches and optimizing the product, so working in a PM role can feel less rewarding.

- The team atmosphere is somewhat strange. I have heard senior employees openly engage in angry arguments about work in the shared office, which noticeably affects the workplace mood.

- From what I observed, everyone treats the RDs with great deference, so remember to manage your manager—managing the RDs first is the key. When your project plan is questioned by your manager, state that you have checked with the RDs and obtained their endorsement and approval for the assignment, and the manager will obediently stop pressing you for accountability.
