Job responsibilities: Everything is pushed onto the software and firmware teams, while the mechanical, panel, and circuit aspects are disregarded and the software and firmware are prioritized first.
Salary: Not high, around 50K.
Working hours: When projects are being launched, it is often necessary to work past 10 p.m. Overtime on Saturdays and Sundays is common. On weekdays, overtime after 9 p.m. cannot be reported, and overtime on Sundays cannot be reported either. Overtime can only be recorded as compensatory leave, not paid as overtime.
Culture: Many of the older employees really like the factory-style culture of sarcastic and abusive remarks, especially toward newcomers. As a result, turnover among new employees is high, and those who stay are almost all somewhat older.
Additional note: Often, engineers are executing a project, but the supervisor cannot decide what to do and is also afraid that the information engineers provide to the client will affect other projects. At the same time, the engineers do not have the authority to decide what to do, so everyone ends up working overtime together.
