1. The basic benefits should generally be provided, although the company banquet is not guaranteed, nor is the year-end bonus. We often hear about “weathering difficult times together.”
2. The people at the company are generally easy to get along with.
3. There is a basic salary adjustment every year.
1. Regardless of your position, if another department needs help, you have to help, no matter how urgent the projects you are working on are.
2. During work, supervisors constantly monitor your progress. In particular, when a supervisor sits behind you and watches your computer, they will immediately come over if they see you doing something else. It is very stressful.
3. There are often projects that suddenly require assistance, and no one cares whether you already have other work scheduled. If they tell you when something must be completed, it has to be completed by then. Overtime is the norm.
3a. There is no overtime pay, and leaving on time can still result in a meeting with your supervisor. When I first joined the company, I was called in by my supervisor after clocking out on time every day and asked whether I had something to do after work.
4. The company has a habit of smoking while holding meetings, showing absolutely no respect for employees who do not smoke. This is especially bad during the supervisors’ meeting held once a month: smoke spills out of the conference room, and it smells terrible.
5. The boss is extremely stingy. Once, at the company banquet, we tried to persuade the boss to add more to the budget, but the boss strongly refused, making the atmosphere extremely awkward.
