1. The boss occasionally gives out gifts, such as perfume or souvenirs from overseas trips.
2. There are occasional unexpected bonuses.
1. 【Company personnel】:
- Extremely high turnover (nearly 10 people, including staff in sales, finance, and marketing, have left in about three months).
- Departing employees have no concept of handing over their work. They resign today and disappear tomorrow (?), and incomplete handovers lead to chaos in the company’s internal operations.
- The boss and sales colleagues never understand that tasks require scheduling. They make a request today and expect it to be delivered tomorrow. If the work cannot be produced, the boss assumes you lack ability, then seeks help from external personnel, only to come back and say outsourcing is expensive (but the entire sequence is fundamentally backwards).
- The boss trusts external personnel more than internal employees. Consultants’ advice and recommendations from EMBA alumni always take priority over those of the relevant department.
- The boss often contradicts himself. A design considered very attractive today may be called ugly and terrible a few days later. He wants to sell high-priced products but is unwilling to bear the costs. He also repeatedly attacks, insults, and continually disparages employees after they leave, without realizing that the efforts of former employees helped drive overall sales and build the brand image. After leaving, you are treated as if you are nothing and a sinner (like me).
2. 【Company policies and systems】:
- Duties are mixed together and poorly defined. During major events, the production line is not adequately staffed with hourly workers, so internal employees are required to work overtime on Saturdays and Sundays. Even when colleagues help out, they are watched and criticized for working too slowly??
- There is no basic concept of inventory management. On the e-commerce platform, they often only discover that the products have no packaging materials or inventory after customers place orders.
- The boss and sales colleagues arrange meetings arbitrarily. As soon as you arrive at work, you are told that there will be a meeting shortly, without knowing any agenda, who the vendor is, or what needs to be coordinated. You only find out during the meeting what kind of cooperation project is being discussed (and it is often with some very strange potential partners).
- The boss measures whether you are a hardworking employee based on whether you work overtime, rather than on your efficiency.
3. 【Company environment】:
- Because it is an old building, the restrooms are shared. They are very old, almost like those at a gas station, and small cockroaches crawl around while you are using the restroom. Some time ago, there was even a rat infestation in the building, and there was rat feces and urine all over the desks (even though the production line is right next to them...).
- The area is a food desert, with no particularly good food nearby.
