I previously worked as a backend developer. The company is divided into many different departments, and the following only applies to the department I was in.
As a one-person team, I could arrange the schedule at my own pace (though there were still deadlines), and I had considerable freedom to decide how the system should be designed.
There were occasional code reviews, providing opportunities to discuss development and technical matters with others.
I could work remotely two days a week.

As a one-person team, although you are given the greatest possible freedom, you also have to wear many hats. In addition, because the people requesting things are not IT professionals, you have to help clarify the requirements before proceeding with the design, which takes considerable effort in communication and clarification.
The legacy system is difficult to maintain; you have to ask people around and piece things together as you go.
The chairs are uncomfortable, and my lower back hurt a lot after sitting for a long time.
The bar outside is just for decoration.
