Supernatural powers (Sanskrit: Abhijñā, Punjabi: Abhiññā), also translated as divine power, spiritual power, or mastery, is a Buddhist term referring to the “mastery” in the “three kinds of knowledge and six supernatural powers.” It denotes mysterious powers that transcend ordinary human abilities, attained through the power of meditation, though they may also merely be ordinary illusions. This term appears in several Buddhist scriptures, such as the Sutra Spoken by Sagaragati the Nirgrantha and the Śūraṅgama Sūtra. Will Wish move the divine-eye power? The divine-ear power (dibba-sota): the ability to hear sounds from extremely distant places, including speech; or to hear sounds through obstacles (for example, conversations in a sealed room). Will Wish move the divine-ear power? The ability to see things in extremely distant places, or to see through obstacles (for example, walls) or bodies; it is unaffected by the brightness or dimness of the light source, distance, or time. It can perceive the true nature of all things. Its levels are divided into the divine eye, wisdom eye, Dharma eye, and Buddha eye. Differences in level and attainment result in different perceptions.
