Interviewed position: Sales Representative

There were three interviewers, each conducting a separate interview:

1. Human Resources: At the beginning of the interview, the HR representative asked whether I had received any other offers recently. I said yes, including offers from Japanese headhunters (such as Li x Gao and Bao x Na, etc.). The HR representative then criticized headhunting companies in person, saying that they were terrible and that she had previously worked at a recruitment agency, where recruiters would take a portion of your salary. I feel that the HR representative should not criticize other companies or other professionals during an interview. In addition, the HR representative should have a better understanding that some recruitment agencies are commissioned by the hiring company and receive 10% of the annual salary for the position from the company, rather than taking it from the employee~

2. Japanese-speaking Sales Representative:

The entire interview was conducted in Japanese. It was mentioned that Japanese vendors would visit the Zhongli plant, and that he himself was responsible for Japanese business as well as hosting visitors. Since he was the only person who spoke Japanese, I would also be expected to support his work, such as hosting Japanese vendors, while handling domestic and international business myself.

3. Sales Manager:

The sales manager mentioned during the interview that, because the Zhongli plant had only recently been completed (although it had already been eight months), operations were still disorganized, and they had not yet hired a sales assistant. Therefore, the sales staff had many responsibilities and would often need to work overtime. The manager also mentioned that the position was a “responsibility-based” role. When the manager asked about my expected salary, I stated NT$40,000 (the salary was listed as negotiable on 104), and the manager looked puzzled. There was so much work to do, yet the position was responsibility-based, and when I asked for the same salary listed by the company, I was met with a cold reception. It has been almost a month and I still have not received a rejection notice; I have even forgotten that I interviewed at such a “high-quality” company.
