The HR department at this company basically invites people to interviews at random just to fill the quota and count it toward the HR staff member’s personal performance. Although the interview invitation was proactively sent and followed up with a phone call by HR, I looked over the job description for “220 – Overseas Sales Specialist / Project Management Specialist.” Even though the location was in a very remote part of Hsinchu, I thought I could give it a try.

However, this interview was a complete waste of time. Not only did I have to send my résumé to HR beforehand, but after arriving I also had to fill out a pile of personal information, attach a photo, take an English test, and answer written questions. It took at least one to one and a half hours to complete all of this. After interviewing with the hiring manager, I personally felt that I was clearly not the person they were looking for. They also said that the company was just a typical contract manufacturer and did not pursue its own brand.

After the interview with the manager ended, I already knew that I probably would not be hired. It felt like a scam: I had prepared all my personal information and completed a pile of test questions and forms. Personally, I felt that HR probably already knew the manager would not hire me, but still went through the interview process just for show. HR then started explaining the company’s benefits, working hours, and so on. By that point, I had no interest in listening and just wanted to leave as soon as possible. I genuinely feel that this company’s approach to recruiting and interviewing is terrible. I spent time preparing for the interview and paid for round-trip high-speed rail and taxi fares, only to be treated and disregarded like this. They have no respect for serious job seekers. Unsurprisingly, I received no response afterward. Terrible HR.
