A former marketing employee at Fangyuan happened to come across the former company online and decided to share some thoughts about my time before leaving.
1. Although we are a bubble tea company, we get to work on quite a variety of projects. This is especially true for marketing, making it a great place to build up experience. From marketing to operations, you can explore things very comprehensively. As long as you have the ability and ideas, there is plenty of room to make the most of your strengths and develop your expertise!
2. At the company, we wrote work journals every day. At first, I was a little resistant to this, but after getting used to it, I found it was actually a very good habit. It allowed me to clearly review what I had accomplished during the day and plan my subsequent progress. In particular, it enabled us to immediately report problems encountered at work, so supervisors and the boss could understand the actual situation right away. Supervisors would provide assistance when needed. I have continued this habit even after leaving the company.
3. Based on online reviews and what former colleagues who had worked there shared, the company used to have book clubs. From what I heard, they sounded more like team-based group discussions, with supervisors and the boss also sharing their perspectives. It actually sounded pretty good. It seemed that different departments could also gain a better understanding of one another’s thoughts. However, this was no longer available when I was at the company.
4. Company benefits
- There is a well-stocked snack cabinet, so you can grab something whenever you want to satisfy a craving.
- There is a monthly beverage allowance, so you can drink as much as you like.
- Once a month, there is a Happy Hour when everyone can put aside their work an hour early and enjoy snacks together.
- Mid-Autumn Festival and Christmas activities are held from time to time.
- Sometimes we received food the boss bought especially for everyone. What I remember most clearly was one time when pineapple production was excessive: the chairman bought pineapples for everyone to support small farmers. The boss is a very warm and considerate person.
- People who enjoy playing table tennis should like it here too. The company has a table tennis table, and we could play for half an hour before leaving work. The boss would occasionally play with us as well, and it was actually quite fun.
- If you do not have time to exercise, you do not need to worry. The company allows employees to leave 20 minutes early to do slow jogging in the office. A former colleague with children told me that they barely had any time after work, so this was a great benefit.
It may just be a common problem among office workers: sitting for long periods can cause a slight belly bulge.
