1. As far as the chemical industry is concerned, I personally think the salary is pretty good—the starting salary was 15–20% higher than at my previous employer.

2. The company occasionally gives out supermarket gift vouchers, such as those for PX Mart, supposedly because of inflation. In any case, they’re basically just meant to be used to buy food.

3. Although the company operates somewhat on an apprenticeship system, the managers aren’t very old, know how to lead people, and are fairly reasonable. Unless you step into a particularly serious problem, things can basically be resolved as long as you discuss them properly.

4. As far as traditional-industry bosses go, although there are still some traditional-industry problems (such as the boss’s son taking over), at least the boss follows the rules they set themselves and doesn’t act like a feudal lord. That’s definitely a plus.

5. There are quite a few overseas assignment openings, and usually people can get promoted after returning from several years on assignment (like my manager did).

The company has some team-building activities, but they’re all held on weekends. It’s incredibly awkward—I just want to stay home and rest on my days off.
