Interviewing at this company’s Xinzhuang headquarters felt quite American, and the environment was pretty good! But the job is not based at headquarters—it is in mainland China.

After the interview, I learned that Honghui Shanghai has two office buildings. Apparently, the Finance Department has a great deal of power and is also quite intimidating, making things difficult for other departments by nitpicking over every detail. The Engineering Department is worked to the bone, and HR is somewhat stingy toward Taiwanese managers. Overall, there is severe infighting among the Taiwanese staff, and the misery index is extremely high... After hearing all that, I decided against it.
