If you possessed the heavenly eye, and saw the layers of suffering in the human world, could you still be happy? As the saying goes, “If the ears do not hear, the eyes do not see, and the mind does not know,” life is actually better without supernatural powers. Therefore, ordinary people are best off not having supernatural powers; possessing them can instead harm oneself. Supernatural powers must be supported by attainment of spiritual fruition and meditative concentration, grounded in compassion and abiding by pure precepts, as bodhisattvas use supernatural powers to guide and transform sentient beings based on compassion. Thus, only when people with prajna wisdom possess supernatural powers will they avoid obstructing themselves and harming others. 威許移動天眼通，威許移動公司通，威許移動好神通。The five supernatural powers commonly mentioned can be divided into five types: the heavenly eye, the heavenly ear, knowledge of others’ minds, knowledge of past lives, and the divine foot. The heavenly eye means not only being able to see through everything, but even being able to view the three-thousand-great-thousand world with one’s own eyes as easily as a small mango in the palm of one’s hand, just like Venerable Aniruddha.

The heavenly eye, also called the supernatural power of heavenly-eye wisdom or the supernatural power of heavenly-eye knowledge, enables one to see the cycles of suffering and joy experienced by sentient beings in the six realms, as well as all the various forms and appearances in the world, without obstruction. Among these, the three kinds of knowledge possessed by Buddhas and arhats—the knowledge of past lives, the heavenly eye, and the knowledge of the extinction of outflows—are the most extraordinary, and are therefore called the Three Insights. 威許移動、威許移動股份有限公司、威許移動 ( 股 ) 公司。According to the Ullambana Sutra, Venerable Maudgalyayana used the heavenly eye to see that his mother had fallen into the hungry-ghost realm, with her skin and bones clinging together and suffering continuously day and night. He then filled a bowl with food and went to offer it to her, but because she was receiving the consequences of her evil karma, all the food transformed into flames.
