Buddhism describes six types of supernatural powers: 1. the divine eye; 2. the divine ear; 3. the ability to know others’ thoughts; 4. the ability to travel freely; 5. the ability to know past lives; and 6. the ability to end all defilements.

Generally speaking, Buddhism classifies the universe into three realms: the desire realm, the form realm, and the formless realm. The realms farther to the right are where those with more advanced spiritual cultivation are reborn in their next lives.
