None at all
I went for an interview three years ago, shortly after graduating. It was also the interview that left the deepest impression on me.
The company was on the first floor. As soon as I went in, I saw many desks with telephones on them, but there wasn't a single person around—it was completely empty. After I called out, “Is anyone here?” someone slowly walked out from the back. After I told him I was there for an interview, he led me inside. It wasn't until we reached the very back that I saw three employees. After I entered the supervisor's office, there was a middle-aged man who kept making tea, and the smell of cigarette smoke was very strong. At the time, I thought I had come to a company run by gangsters. I was terrified.
Throughout the interview, he kept trying to push down my salary and undermine my professional skills. (I studied design and was interviewing for a web design position.) In the end, he told me the salary would be 18,000, and that I would have to rely on my own efforts for the rest. He even asked whether I wanted to switch to sales instead, since I could earn more. I told him I had no sales experience and had only studied design. Later, seeing how firm I was, he said, “Fine, we'll notify you in a few days to come to work.” When I left his office, I ran the whole way. I was honestly terrified....
