The starting salary is probably higher, compared with the publishing industry.

1. The year-end bonus advertised on job websites may just be a way to attract employees and may not actually be real. At least there wasn't one when I was there—I don't know whether there is one now.

2. Also, at the time, it was possible to work from home. I don't know whether that's still the case. But by no means should you consider this a benefit, because without clock-in records, there was no way to determine whether anyone had worked overtime, so naturally there was no overtime pay either. Management treated this as a benefit and used it as a reason for not paying a year-end bonus. But if you think about it, working from home actually benefits management, because if everyone (teachers and editors) had to work in the office, they would have to rent a larger office and install soundproofing in every room to prevent people from disturbing one another. Having everyone work from home saves all of those expenses. Isn't this exactly what management wanted?

3. At the time, a welfare fund was also deducted from our monthly salaries. We were told it would be used to organize activities, but editors had to rush to meet deadlines when activities were held—how could we possibly have time to attend? Better companies are more generous: they buy employees coffee without deducting the cost from their pay.
