Pros

Day-shift SMT technician. Base salary of NT$28,000 + NT$1,000 perfect-attendance bonus + NT$250/day night-shift allowance. After labor and health insurance deductions, the actual monthly take-home pay is about NT$32,000. The cafeteria provides dinner; each meal costs NT$45. There is a café where lattes, Americanos, and various other coffees cost NT$10 per cup. Steamed buns and bread cost NT$15 each. There are also vending machines. After working for three months, you receive three days of annual leave (the later you join, the fewer than three days you receive; those who started in February were given only 2.5 days).

Cons

If you have no SMT experience, do not come here under any circumstances—you will be worked to death. When operating a production line, the visual inspector must know how to read the system schedule, work orders, and material lists, and must also check whether the materials taken with the material gun are correct. For the first board produced, you must check the polarity and whether any materials are missing. After the board passes through the reflow oven, you must run it through the AOI inspection system to confirm whether there are any problems with the components on the board. Then you must conduct a visual inspection to confirm there are no scratches; only then is one unit considered complete. Before starting the line, you must prepare racks for completed products. Once a rack is full, you have to transport it yourself to the designated pallet, then get an empty rack and continue loading it. You will not be able to sit there peacefully without moving. You will have many occasions to leave your seat, while boards continue coming off the production line nonstop. You can only keep picking up boards while doing the tasks you need to do; before long, the boards will pile up out of control, more than you can inspect.

If you have no SMT experience, you will only be pushed to your limits because you simply cannot keep up with the work rhythm. According to experienced workers, it takes about a year of being worked this hard before you may be able to get through the days with ease. Before then, you will complete each day's work in total chaos, looking exhausted and disheveled.
