The colleagues in other departments at the Taipei office are all very nice. Everyone shares food together, and the atmosphere at work is also pretty good.
The following concerns the 好X business group:
The team is very small, basically consisting of one boss and one female manager.
Essentially, the boss has the final say on all policies, while the female manager acts as the PM.
However, all the horror stories are also caused by this PM, resulting in people constantly coming and going.
At first, they act very friendly and boast that the team is continuously expanding and the business is growing.
In short, they are very good at sales talk, which is why my biggest regret is listening to their packaging.
In reality, after joining, the company made no progress at all. The business direction kept changing, and they never found a viable business model.
They also latch onto the hottest current topics and say they will move in that direction. To put it bluntly, they are like headless flies.
At present, it appears they keep submitting proposals to the government for project subsidies, but the projects are ultimately watered down during execution.
That is the general situation of the team. If you are still hesitating about whether to join after reading this, please read the following section.
The pros mention that colleagues in other departments are very nice. Yes—only “other” departments.
Being colleagues with this PM from the X酷 business group would drive you crazy no matter how high your EQ is:
1. She has no method to her work, is impulsive and impatient, and does whatever comes to mind.
She thinks she is teaching people how to work and that others should be grateful to have a supervisor willing to teach them.
But in reality, what she teaches is extremely basic, and sometimes she is simply teaching it because it makes things more convenient for her.
I once saw her assign someone a task and tell them to complete A. After it was submitted to her, she unexpectedly replied, “Why isn’t it B?”
But from beginning to end, she had instructed that person to complete A, and she never mentioned changing direction during the process.
Seeing that colleague get harshly berated by her made me extremely angry and indignant on their behalf.
It was truly ridiculous—several part-time employees left voluntarily after working only a few months.
2. She has a very strong desire for control and insists on many pointless things. Every little matter has to be reported to her.
Even the way tasks are done has to follow the method she teaches. The problem is that her method is sometimes genuinely laughable.
If you question her, she comes up with a bunch of ridiculous reasons to rationalize her own approach. She likes to argue but has no confidence.
3. She loves gossiping and badmouthing colleagues behind their backs. If there is someone or something she is dissatisfied with, she uses indirect remarks to attack them.
Or, more directly, she calls someone and immediately starts speaking ill of them. The key point is that the people she criticizes are not the ones with problems.
4. When she cannot finish her own work, she dumps it on others. The most common situation is that she initially asks you to help with one small thing for a project.
In the end, somehow the entire project becomes your responsibility to complete, and she will shamelessly say, “It was your responsibility all along??”
The most ridiculous example is when she has nothing to do and chats casually, yet asks you to photocopy documents she wants, treating you directly as her personal secretary.
There are many more ridiculous incidents that cannot all be listed here, but by this point you should understand.
If you still want to join the X酷 business group to test your mental strength, all I can say is: good luck!
