The recruitment poster made it look really good
“Experience not required”
Once you get in, you have no idea how badly they’ll mess with you
Fortunately, I’ve already left~
Here’s my advice to anyone thinking of applying:
Be sure to carefully choose the store before submitting your résumé.
If you notice anything genuinely wrong or unreasonable during your internship, leave as soon as possible—don’t stay.
Especially if your supervisor or store manager seems weird.
During my internship, I was bullied in the workplace by the store manager,
who maliciously picked on me.
The worst part was that when I was working the register, they directly humiliated me in front of customers.
Even the customers couldn’t stand it and intervened to stop them.
After reading the shortcomings shared by others, I’ve listed the situations I also encountered:
1. The store has a high long-term turnover rate, and job openings are posted every week or two.
2. The job is basically direct sales.
3. If your superior doesn’t like you, they’ll ruin you even if you achieve results.
4. You’re working practically 24/7, with no quality of life at all—constantly checking LINE and answering your phone.
5. You’re required to clock out when your shift ends and then continue working, with no overtime pay.
6. Days off are scheduled very rigidly, with no flexibility.
7. If no senior colleague is willing to genuinely teach you, you have to cross the line yourself before you’ll know what to do next. Even if you ask questions, you’ll
only be humiliated.
8. Supervisors also like to deliberately undermine your confidence.
9. You’re expected to master over 80% of the duties in less than a week, which is extremely high-pressure.
It got to the point that now, whenever I think of that person, my hands tremble and my heart races.
Learning new things used to be something that made me happy.
But when you’re filled with fear, you can’t learn anything.
I probably don’t want to have anything to do with 7-ELEVEN for quite a while.
Just thinking about it makes me feel physically ill.
A work system based on brainwashing is truly awful.
Fortunately, I’m not that submissive, so I got out first.
Otherwise, I’d be waiting to be brainwashed into becoming someone without any independent thoughts.
