Pros

There are two afternoon teas and one happy hour every month, and plenty of vacation days. But do activities funded by squeezing money out of employees’ salaries really count as a benefit?

Hehe, I should still write something down, otherwise there wouldn’t be a single positive.

Cons

If you’re in the creative department, there are frequent events such as “Creative Sharing” and the quarterly conference where you have to give presentations. Each one takes up an entire afternoon (sometimes even running past 8 p.m.). There’s already more work than you can finish, yet you still have to waste time on these optional, pointless activities. After giving your presentation, you also have to sit there and listen to the entire thing. If you go back to work on official matters, your supervisor may even call you in for a meeting. What kind of terrible system is this?

On one occasion, everyone in the creative department was suddenly told to go to an event venue in the Xinyi District that same day, solely to help create a crowd and take photos for a retired company consultant. We wasted several hours and still had to work overtime (it was a Friday). The boss wasn’t even there at the time. For an advertising agency that touts a free-spirited foreign-company culture, having such a disgusting and terrible bureaucratic atmosphere is truly pathetic.

HR is also extremely awful. The head of HR has long been notorious across all departments, using every possible means to threaten and exploit employees. Recently, after promising you a permanent position, they suddenly gave you a one-year contract at the statutory minimum wage. Looking back, they really should be reported.
