If you’re a recent graduate joining the company, regardless of your educational background, you’ll receive the minimum salary of 25,000 (take-home pay). A “foreign company” in Taipei has the nerve to offer this kind of salary—it’s a complete joke. Even a part-time job at McDonald’s pays more. On top of that, they’ll only offer you a contract position and will never make you a permanent employee. Despite paying such low wages, they somehow manage to hold afternoon tea twice a month, along with happy hours and various other activities. But who do you think has to put in the extra time to organize and run these activities? Of course, the unfortunate new employees.

‘’There is no overtime pay‘’. The company only gives you compensatory leave (which you often can’t even get). It really makes you wonder whether this is legal, and there’s always so much work that you never have time to take a day off. They replace an entire batch of employees every year. Why is the turnover rate so high? It doesn’t take much thought to figure it out.

Oh, and when new employees join, they’re also made to perform a “newcomer dance” at the year-end banquet. You have to use your lunch breaks and weekends to practice. I heard the company was even reported for a labor inspection over this last year—what a joke.
