After I posted my résumé on 104, someone from NEC’s HR department proactively contacted me, and the first-round interview was conducted online. The interviewer was a PM from one of the teams. He appeared quite refined and was around 35 years old.
He told me that they were currently rushing to launch a project and needed someone with front-end engineering experience to help review the interface. Since I had worked on similar projects in e-commerce, they invited me to interview and discuss the opportunity.
During the interview, I realized that the manager was also technically knowledgeable, which reassured me considerably.
What I fear most is working with a PM who doesn’t understand technology, because communication can become difficult. The manager introduced me to the company’s working environment. They are stationed at client sites, so they expect everyone to have a customer-service mindset and good communication skills. When it comes to clients’ needs, it is not about accepting every request without question; rather, you need to be able to understand them and assess whether you can deliver what is required.
If I got the position, I think I would be quite happy. I would be able to apply my professional skills while also learning how larger projects are carried out. Overall, the interview experience was pretty good.
Nothing in particular comes to mind.
