Senior management’s expertise is all rather naively romantic, and most departments are a complete mess.

It’s laughable that they can accuse you in a meeting of taking several months to complete a task, but once they’re assigned responsibility for it, they start shouting about a lack of skilled personnel and resources. Even after everything is in place, they still can’t finish it in several times the amount of time they originally claimed it should take. Truly amusing.
