Pros

There were three interviewers in total (two managers and one HR representative).

The managers’ questions were quite focused and they explained the job duties and shift arrangements in detail. The process was generally pleasant, and I also felt that the managers’ questions were substantive. They asked questions based on the information I had provided beforehand.

Cons

The final stage of the interview was with HR, who asked some very superficial questions and acted like a self-proclaimed psychologist.

The question that left the deepest impression was:

How do you know whether you are suitable for a job?

I thought, if I weren’t suitable, why would I be interviewing for this position? Do they think I have nothing better to do?

When I discussed my experience and the job duties with the managers, I had already explained many things. It showed that HR had not really been listening to what I could do.

I also answered that if I felt something was not working or was inefficient, I would ask experienced colleagues for advice or review and adjust the way I worked. At the same time, I had assessed that I was suitable for and interested in this position before applying.

HR replied: “Simply put, you can only spend time getting to know it.”

Several months later, I saw that the same position was still being advertised.

It felt like they had posted it just for the sake of it, so HR could build a database and count it toward their performance metrics.
