A pension-like company, with free parking (if you have connections, you can even cut in line and secretly let yourself park first—one deputy section manager at a certain unit does exactly this). The company has virtually no systems or rules to speak of. As long as the department manager agrees, you can fraudulently claim as much overtime pay as you want. At one of the company’s money-burning units (not R&D), people stay late to work overtime every day. In particular, the unit’s senior manager comes to work around noon almost every day and works overtime at night.
At one of the company’s so-called “smart X” money-burning units, a group of people hide in a small room within the large office. The partitions are especially high. The unit’s senior manager hides in the last spot in the small room and dozes off during working hours on almost three or more days a week—sleeping loudly enough to snore. One of the deputy section managers follows suit and sleeps as well. Another never does their own work, always watching how others slack off and then filing petty reports. The last deputy section manager appears very diligent, but in fact barely does any work either, constantly watching what everyone else is doing. Work assignments in this unit are always uneven: capable people are given especially heavy workloads, while those without ability are, to put it nicely, treated as janitors; in reality, they are simply drawing a salary without doing anything. R&D bonuses are always divided up by the unit manager and junior managers, serving entirely as the senior manager’s private fund. Most ridiculous of all, the top manager desperately needs the second-in-command’s assistance. Even when the second-in-command behaves recklessly—dozing off at work, doing nothing but talking nonsense to subordinates, acting as though they are highly capable, and so on—the senior manager does not dare say a word, resulting in the engineers below merely obeying on the surface. Because this department has no systems or rules whatsoever, most of the engineers inside it, including the deputy section managers, have also become slackers. Watching videos, reading novels, and browsing websites during work hours are everyday occurrences; one former deputy section manager even played the computer game Lineage M at work without any problem. Highly recommended for people with very poor abilities who want to sleep and slack off at work to join this department.
