1. The boss loves showing up at quitting time to ask whether there are any manuscripts or design drafts for him to review. More than four or five people in the entire department usually have something for him to check. Sometimes he spends half an hour with one person; other times he takes a cursory look and says this or that is unacceptable.
2. The boss is extremely emotional. All authority and decision-making power are in his hands, while the managers are just for show.
3. If you dare to leave work on time, even when you have already worked half an hour late, you will still be considered to have left early. Be prepared to be bullied in the workplace.
4. The weekly morning meeting includes announcements and awards, but its main purpose is still to listen to lectures and reprimands.
5. Both the managers and the boss love using emotional blackmail. They say you have low stress tolerance, and even claim that many people have actually worked here for a long time, but in reality, 5% or less have been here for more than five years; 70–80% have been here for less than five years, and some leave after only a year and a half.
6. The organizational chart looks very large, but in practice power is still concentrated in the hands of certain people. In recent years, the company has been preparing to go public, so everything has been packaged to look very good, but in reality...
7. They really like to say that the company's benefits exceed regulatory requirements. In practice, the supposed extras do not make up for the two or three hours of unpaid overtime you work every day. For example, the employee welfare committee gives a NT$600 birthday gift and a NT$2,000 one-year-service incentive, but they quietly take at least NT$1,000–2,000 from you each month through two or three hours of unpaid overtime per day—more than that in a year.
8. They say you can report overtime, but managers pressure you by saying they assess the workload. Sometimes, if you do not carefully check the overtime pay and leave categories, they are quietly taken away. Employees only dare to rely on each other privately.....
9. Do not believe the nonsense from the managers and boss. They say that because something is urgent, they hope you will work overtime on holidays and that they will come too. In reality, I have hardly ever seen them show up. Then they emotionally blackmail employees by saying, “I know your health is poor, and I hope you get better soon, but we must devote all our effort and treat this valuable matter as if our lives depended on it.” So what happens when employees collapse???
10. They even have to promote smiling and greeting one another among employees??? Just look at how exhausted everyone is—no one can even smile. It was actually fortunate that this happened during the mask-wearing period; otherwise, we would have had to force smiles.
11. Many systems that seem good are merely for show. In reality, the management still follows traditional manufacturing-industry thinking. Do not be fooled by appearances.
12. A dream factory?? In a way, yes—going in feels like having a nightmare. If you want to use it to pad your résumé, you can stay for a short time, but staying long-term will wear you to death.
