Pros

Because I heard the saying, “Once bitten by a snake, one is afraid of a rope that looks like a snake for ten years,” I suddenly wanted to come back and leave a review. This company was the first company to lay me off, and it was also my last accounting-related job. The company’s operations were normal, but if the supervisor didn’t like you, you had to leave.

The only advantage was: lunch was provided.

But you had to go to the nearby market and “quickly” buy the ingredients for the “entire company” to eat yourself.

Cons

Ten years ago, I worked at this company as an accounting assistant and was laid off before the year-end bonus.

I know I often made mistakes, but I always managed to fix them successfully. However, the supervisor’s mindset was: mistakes were not allowed.

The reason I often made mistakes at the time was that the senior colleague training me simply didn’t teach me properly. When I took the initiative to ask her, she would either refuse to explain or have a very bad attitude.

When I was scolded for making mistakes, the senior colleague acted as if it had nothing to do with her while she played on her phone and chatted. This left me with no choice but to secretly ask another senior colleague or a coworker who had joined at the same time.

What SOP? I hadn’t even completed one full cycle of the process. At the end of December, the supervisor, Ms. Bao, said I was not suitable for the job and told me to leave that very day. I almost cried. She asked me whether I knew why I was being laid off.

I said, “Because I often make mistakes.” Ms. Bao said, “I think you would be more suited to working at a bank.”

The reason she disliked me was probably that she thought I didn’t know how to flatter her or put on a show of superficial deference.

Also, whenever she had to work overtime, she wouldn’t allow anyone else to leave until they had finished the tasks she had assigned them “when she was leaving.”

In just a few short months, I experienced everything: customers yelling at me (they were really yelling at the company), the supervisor making indirect accusations (saying she wouldn’t work overtime while expecting me to), and bullying from the senior colleague (treating me as if I didn’t exist).

This was the job that made me the unhappiest. After that, I changed careers and stopped working in accounting.
