I’m inexperienced and don’t have much experience, so I’d like to ask everyone for advice.

Is it normal for interviewers to ask job applicants for company information like this???

A while ago, I interviewed at an e-commerce company whose name starts with S. The interviewers seemed to be named Alice and Erin (I’m not sure if I spelled them correctly). They said it was company policy to provide information about my previous company; otherwise, I wouldn’t be eligible for the interview. Although it felt strange at the time, I still provided it -_-a. Later, I thought about it and realized that this is essentially competitors’ information, isn’t it??? Is it normal for them to ask for this during an interview???

This is the first time I’ve encountered a situation like this... I wonder if anyone else has experienced it.
