Position interviewed for: Junior Accountant
The boss insists on hiring one more person because they want to go public, while the interviewer (the senior accountant) thinks she can handle it. They do not really agree, but are required to recruit, so they end up driving all the new hires away in order to retain sole control.
They want to hire someone who can identify and solve problems, which should not be a junior accountant but rather someone at the level of a chief accountant or above. Yet they are only willing to offer assistant-level compensation of 30–35K. In accounting, people with that kind of ability can easily command at least 40–60K, or even over 80K, elsewhere. No wonder eight people left within two months. Those eight were the normal ones, okay? A company that wastes people's time interviewing.
