Overall, even before I joined this company, I already knew what HR’s attitude was like. It may also be that foreigners working in Taiwan are treated as disposable commodities that can be discarded at any time. Because my work permit could not be approved, my offer was canceled and I was directly abandoned by the company. At that time, I still thought it was fine. Due to negligence by my previous company, I was unable to obtain my work permit properly. Without resolving the work permit issue, I would not be able to legally look for work or work in Taiwan. However, when the HR representative of KuYou canceled my offer over the phone, they also told me to keep going and suggested that I consider looking for another job. I was genuinely speechless about this.

Then I thought it was fine again, since the most urgent matter at that point was to resolve the work visa issue. I therefore had to ask them for the reference number of the document they had submitted to the Ministry of Labor on my behalf. That reference number cost me an entire day. They originally said on Friday that they would provide it after the May 1 holiday. After waiting a day, I called to ask, and they said they were busy in a meeting and would call me again at 17:40. In the end, they still made me wait for more than an hour without contacting me.

I wrote an email and also contacted another HR representative who had been coordinating with me at the time. They also said they would reply the next morning, but I am still waiting to this day.

I really cannot understand this. Even taking a short amount of time to reply to my email would have been enough; I was not even asking them to call me. They could not provide me with even a single reference number. After canceling my offer, they treated me as if I were invisible and left me waiting on the sidelines. It was truly an awful feeling! They initially said they would provide all the assistance needed, but now I only need them to provide one reference number and the contact details of the Ministry of Labor representative handling the case, so that my previous company can process it for me—and they cannot even do that.

Their HR department is truly irresponsible. I am very glad in the end that my offer was canceled. A company that has no sense of responsibility in handling matters and only keeps dragging things out gives people absolutely no sense of a future.
