1. The headquarters provides lunch and dinner; they’re fairly edible.
2. The headquarters isn’t far from the MRT station.
3. It’s close to National Taiwan Normal University, so there may be more brainy young hunks around.
Department: Marketing
1. Protect your life—stay away from King Car, or your life will go off the rails.
2. The company culture is even more bureaucratic than the public sector, and the employees are older on average than those in a nursing home.
3. A family business in a traditional industry: the boss’s children and mistress speak louder than you do.
4. The schizophrenic boss has no strategy or direction, bangs on the table and shouts incomprehensibly all day, going “ha-ha!”
5. Extremely stingy—really stingy. Whether dealing with external vendors or internal employees, they’re the same; if a taxi fare exceeds NT$200, they’ll complain at you.
6. The monthly employee welfare items are deducted from your salary, and many are poorly selling products being cleared from inventory (such as coffee so sweet you need dialysis after finishing it).
7. If you still want to join, consider any department—but if you love yourself, please, by all means, do not join Marketing. Turnover is so high that before you finish a single pack of舒潔 tissues, all your colleagues will have been replaced (you’re advised to bring your own tissues; the whole department shares one pack).
8. You think you’re the client, but you’re actually the third party; even the second-party agency gets off work earlier than you.
9. Other than haggling with vendors and learning how to take the blame, you won’t learn anything else here.
10. There is no Marketing Department, Product Planning, or Sales Department—only the Boss’s Assistant Department and the Department for Fulfilling the Boss’s Dreams; you could also call it the Yes-Men Department.
11. Throughout the company, age is basically proportional to temper, but everyone’s actual abilities fail to keep pace with their tempers.
12. Organizational changes are entirely at the emperor’s discretion. If everything becomes a mess, it’s blamed on the people below for being incompetent; “wrong decision” is never an option.
13. If you get the gender right, you can try getting promoted by shouting, “Long live the Emperor!”
14. Senior management has no ability to self-reflect—only imagination. “My ability to make money.”
15. When products sell poorly, consumers are criticized for not understanding how good they are; when sales are good, the boss takes it as proof of their own brilliance and might.
16. Departmental infighting is entertaining—you’re witnessing a live version of *The Legend of Zhen Huan*. But regardless of your title, your authority is probably about the same as Juqing’s.
17. The Marketing manager is incompetent and doesn’t look after her own people. She only pushes you and the vendors to their deaths, is emotional, likes throwing pens, and listens to presentations with a look as if you owe her money. She can’t develop proposals or provide direction; she only picks faults out of your proposals and takes the good parts for herself.
18. There are no raises, the year-end bonus is less than two months’ salary, and there are no gifts or bonuses for the three major holidays.
19. The brand favoritism is severe: small brands get no budget at all, while large-brand budgets are scattered recklessly.
20. Extremely environmentally unfriendly—one payment request means cutting down an entire forest.
