Online interview during the 2022 pandemic
This was an interview experience for a warehouse-related position.
I was notified about whether I was hired.
Before the online interview, I was asked to fill out various basic personal details.
After replying by email, I was asked to complete a test. Before the test began, I was again asked to fill out "nearly identical" basic personal details.
During the interview, I was questioned as if it were a background investigation, while questions I asked about the job received vague answers.
Regarding this kind of basic information, if you do not ask, she does not provide an answer, yet she digs into your personal information. People who mind this may find it annoying.
Here is a brief summary of the information:
1. Working hours
Week 1: 8:00–17:00 (the reading group requires employees to arrive one hour early)
Weeks 2–5: 9:00–18:00 (regular working hours)
2. A parking space is provided.
3. They claim that employees will not be required to lift more than 15 kilograms.
4. Overtime is required at the end of the month.
5. There is no system for scanning shipments in and out, so the operation follows a more traditional small-warehouse model. If something goes wrong, you know what that means.
6. HR genuinely wants to find suitable candidates, but the area manager only wants to hire people for NT$28,000–30,000. If you ask for NT$30,000, there is a chance you will be screened out.
Summary
1. The hiring standards differ too much between HR and the area manager.
2. They only want entry-level candidates. For entry-level candidates, this can be used as a stepping stone.
3. They want to expand the warehouse, but some of their thinking is difficult to respect. You get what you pay for; if they only want to hire people at low salaries, there will naturally be more people slacking off.
4. You must participate in the spiritual reading group.
5. Do not expect to discuss practical issues during the interview; try to give the standard answers as much as possible.
