Company employees: the boss, the boss’s wife, and salespeople who come and go
The boss is very generous:
1. He confiscates your charger because he’s worried you’ll keep scrolling on your phone at work, causing the battery to run out quickly and straining your eyes.
2. Entertainment expenses can be claimed freely, but drinks should preferably cost no more than NT$30 each, and you have to explain which client and which person each drink was for.
3. You can refuel the company vehicle only when you have actually gone out to visit clients; otherwise, the boss will suspect that you are driving around unnecessarily.
4. The year-end party raffle prize is NT$15,000 (including gift certificates the boss no longer wants, which must be reported as income), but all employees split it equally, and the boss’s wife is also counted as an employee. The restaurant budget cannot exceed NT$2,000 per person.
5. Company dinners are held once every three months. No one may order anything costing more than NT$200, or the boss will say it is too expensive.
The boss trusts his employees very much:
1. Before you resign, he will praise you for being very hardworking; after you submit your resignation, he will start telling other employees that you are terrible.
2. When the company has no sales work, he will try to persuade you to stay. Once he finds someone else, he will start micromanaging you until you can’t stand it and leave on your own.
3. After you submit your resignation, the boss will no longer speak to you—which is probably a benefit.
The boss is highly capable at sales:
1. He asks manufacturers to hand over clients, or picks up clients that other distributors no longer serve.
2. He brings in another salesperson to help set up the VENDOR CODE for major manufacturers, then asks you to leave.
3. He boasts that he is extremely capable at sales and has never met anyone better than himself, telling us to learn more from him.
4. He accompanies you to visit clients and chats aimlessly, making the atmosphere extremely awkward.
