The publicly listed company has a brand and established systems. New employees receive 10 days of annual leave upon joining (allocated on a pro-rata basis; if you leave mid-year, the leave is also granted on a pro-rata basis).
The company does not respect its employees and offers little room for development. The company requires every employee to write a work plan, then frequently uses the work-plan evaluation to penalize you and cut your salary. The salary package agreed upon with you can only be taken as a reference; whether you receive it depends on your luck and whether you win the favor of the emotionally volatile general manager. At present, this unit has more than 30 people, and 15 of them have resigned!
Simply put, this company is all reputation and no substance, yet it has even received an international award for best employer brand, which really makes one question the fairness of the award.
1. The HR department and talent development lack professionalism
Before joining, you have to complete many tests, including an intelligence test and the TOEIC. You also have to wait a long time before being able to report for work, and the administrative process is extremely lengthy. But after joining, you are simply told to go online and view the courses yourself; HR does not provide new employees with any pre-employment orientation. It is quite puzzling: there are so many requirements before joining, yet the HR department’s standards are so…
2. Employees are not respected. Everyone has to clock in, including managers, and staff are also required to write daily work logs, recording every detail of their work. This is rather bizarre—is this the management of children?
3. The general manager of Asia Digital is an odd character—or perhaps it would be more accurate to say she has a reading disorder. She often does not read the reports you spend so much time preparing. Every weekend, she pressures you to work overtime to write reports or fire people. Unfortunately, the reports you work overtime to deliver to her are not read by her. She doesn’t read them—she doesn’t read them—she doesn’t read them. This is important‼️ Three times! She doesn’t read your reports. Then… without carefully reading the reports you worked overtime to prepare, she will come up with new ideas and requirements, leaving you devastated, and demand that you produce yet another new report! As a result, your reports will have many versions; producing six versions is usually the minimum. Don’t be too surprised if there are ten!
4. Decision-making is constantly changing. You have to be prepared to revise a project over and over again, until the ends of the earth, and she is always forgetful, eventually forgetting the decisions she made. You then become the scapegoat, because she will push all, all, all of her wrong decisions onto you.
It is extremely difficult to stay here for more than three months because they use various methods to extend your probationary period, or constantly warn you that you must do this or that to pass probation. Fundamentally, they are simply trying to bully workers, and the HR department is even more remarkable—it fully supports this kind of practice. For a company with this kind of culture, I still advise everyone: you deserve a better stage!
