1. HR responds quickly.
2. The potential workplace location seems pretty good.
1. They send you an assignment first and give you three hours to translate something that is actually a bit too much to finish within three hours.
2. Regarding communication, I’m not sure whether it was HR or someone else, but they asked me to use Track Changes to complete an assignment. They sent me a Word document and asked me to return it three hours later. However, Word wasn’t installed on my Mac, so I called them to ask whether I could edit it using Google Docs, since my computer simply didn’t have Word. The person on the other end couldn’t really answer and said, “Please wait while I ask my supervisor.” After asking, their response was actually: “Track Changes means you first…” (and then they proceeded to explain how to use Track Changes). At that moment, I felt like we were talking past each other. I was clearly only asking whether I could use another tool to complete the assignment, but the way she relayed the question made it seem as though people internally would think I didn’t even know how to use Track Changes. This person who appeared to be HR was quite the “helpful” teammate indeed: )
3. After you’re completely exhausted from finishing the assignment they requested and emailing it back, they can reject you within just a few minutes: ) Then they’ll recommend that you consider taking on their projects as an outsourced freelancer instead. How thoughtful of them—they’ve even planned out your next option for you.
