Salary and benefits are unrelated to individual abilities or willingness to work overtime; they mainly depend on whether you know how to make a fuss and whether the department makes money.

There is no such thing as profit sharing when the company makes money. You only have a chance to share when your department makes money. When the department loses money, you're asked to weather the difficult times together. Even if the company's performance is excellent, there are still no bonuses and only a low year-end bonus.
