Everyone may think that working as an internal office employee at a company means simply sitting in an office, but that is not actually the case. When I first arrived, I wanted to learn about the products, so I wandered around the warehouse looking for them because I knew nothing at the time. I wondered how I could perform well in an unfamiliar industry, so I went to the warehouse to look at the products and understand their categories. Whenever I did not understand something related to professional knowledge, I asked my colleagues. I even went to register to adopt a pet. By raising a pet, I could better understand and empathize with animals. I have loved dogs since I was little and have always hoped to have the opportunity to live with a pet again.
For internal office operations to run smoothly, I knew that understanding the products alone was not enough. I therefore began finding ways to learn about the warehouse’s shipping process and interact with warehouse staff and delivery drivers. I remember one time when another female colleague and I followed a driver to deliver products for an exhibition and sales event. We pulled a cart and moved items in the truck while the driver received them below. On a hot day, the three of us were sweating profusely as we moved around inside the truck. I still remember the happy feeling, even though the sweat covered our faces and our hair stuck to our faces.
I am the kind of person who gives everything I have once I take on a job. Why do I work so hard? Actually, I do not know. But my attitude toward work is that once I decide to do something, I have to do it well. I cannot accept doing things carelessly. Conversely, if an environment offers no challenges, it would not be the kind of work I want to do.
This is particularly important for new employees. While working hard, they are also learning and developing themselves. Companies should give employees a sense of belonging and security. A sense of belonging means that employees want to integrate into the company and work hard for it, while a sense of security means that employees can feel the company needs them and that they are valuable. Helping employees understand their value within the company is also an effective way to encourage motivation at work.
