Pros

1. Because the company is so absurd, the employees actually get along well in private.

After all, we have to resist the evil forces together, which creates a bridge effect.

2. There is an annual company banquet and employee travel (although the itineraries are pretty absurd).

3. The lunch break is an hour and a half (but you must arrive punctually at 8:30 a.m.).

4. The work environment is quite relaxed. You can leave your seat whenever you want, and people generally do not interfere. However, the boss loves walking around behind everyone, peeking at their screens, and secretly eating the snacks on employees’ desks.

5. Taking time off is easy, but if you take too much, you will be complained at for a long time.

Most colleagues are genuinely easy to get along with, and there are also many truly capable people. You can get to know them, make friends, and build your own network.

Cons

1. As many senior colleagues have said, this company is extremely—utterly—disrespectful of professional expertise and never listens to employees’ suggestions.

2. Product design is not handled by the product department; it is handled by sales. So the uglier, the better.

3. A brand killer. This company has more or less killed five or six brands over the years, and I do not know why anyone still dares to work with it.

4. If you sell well, it is all because the company’s product development was excellent; if you sell poorly, it is because the sales staff are too incompetent.

5. If you latch onto the right people, you can rise straight to the top, because the managers above you basically have minds that are still factory-sealed and are unwilling to accept any new ideas. The moment you speak up, you are told that you are the problem and that you do not understand. As long as you cater to the managers’ preferences, your salary can jump several levels immediately.

6. The company has absolutely, completely, totally no ideas or understanding when it comes to brand management. Even the company introduction and brand descriptions were written entirely by new employees. There is no thought whatsoever given to brand image or positioning.

7. The bonus system and company policies are changed whenever they feel like it. Not giving you your bonus is considered perfectly normal. The more money you make, the less they let you take home, because the manager takes half first. For some reason, bonuses also have to be divided with the administration department, although you have no idea what tangible help they actually provided.

8. All the managers are extremely good at painting grand pictures, especially those at associate-director level and above. Behind closed doors at the company, they are very good at talking; once they go to meet clients, they just lower their heads like ostriches and expect employees to shoulder everything!

9. If you do not stand up for yourself and argue your case, the company assumes you are easy to bully. Work spanning three or four departments will all be pushed onto you. They will say, “You need to create your own value first; then the company will see your efforts and contributions.” The reality is that they will not—and they may even snap, “I never said this was your job. Who told you to do it just because you wanted to?”

10. People who know how to get things done will be exploited to death. Then, the moment you resist, they will say your work attitude is poor and use that as a reason to deduct your performance bonus.

11. There are no bonuses for the three major holidays, only employee gift vouchers or some agricultural products. The criteria for the year-end bonus: none. It depends entirely on whether the manager likes you. It can be as little as less than one-third of a month’s salary, and at most around 1.25 months. The benefits policy is basically nonexistent.

12. People in the administration department and some long-serving employees love making vulgar dirty jokes, discussing their political views, and disparaging people with different views. They also make attacks related to sexual orientation, and they speak very loudly, showing absolutely no concern about whether their comments are appropriate.

After spending several years at this company, I have only become increasingly disappointed in its managers and systems. When you achieve results, there is no raise or any other reward. They only keep making empty promises that the company will not treat you unfairly, but the fact is that it really does treat you unfairly.

Whenever you resist or raise an objection, the company starts targeting you in all sorts of ways and nitpicking over every little thing—things so insubstantial that they are practically invisible. The managers have no professional competence whatsoever. If you respond using your professional expertise, you will immediately be labeled a blacklisted problem employee. For the sake of gaining experience, you can give it a try; after all, when there are no resources, you have to rely on yourself, and you can learn a lot in a short time.

If you want to stay for the long term, you have to be good at flattering people and passing work off to others. You also have to pretend that you are very serious and hardworking. Learn to become a tea-art master—starting with you and me. Hope this helps everyone :)
