Position: (LTCB) LINE Sales Promotion Manager

1. Location & transportation: At the intersection of Ruiguang Road and Jihu Road. On the first floor, you need to exchange your ID for an access card before you can swipe in and take the elevator to your floor. Taking public transportation is recommended, as parking is very difficult, whether you use a scooter or a car.

2. Process: HR first called to confirm the available interview time and the position being applied for. Afterwards, they sent a formal interview invitation email and asked me to arrive 10 minutes early.

3. Work environment:

- The office is not located on just one floor of the building. The 10th floor is LINE's main reception lobby. In addition to a very large Brown bear, there are also models of LINE characters at the entrance. On the right side after entering the reception lobby is their café, and farther back appears to be a lounge area with sofas for employees. (However, I did not look too carefully because I was busy thinking about the possible interview questions.)

- There are four women's restrooms, each equipped with a smart toilet. They are bright and clean, which is a definite plus for women.

4. Interview process & impressions:

- Interview format: one-on-one conversation & interview in Chinese

- The description of the position on 104 was actually quite ambiguous. After the interviewer explained it, it seemed to focus more on promoting add-on products developed by LINE.

- The interviewer was a woman who spoke extremely quickly and repeatedly emphasized the high-pressure, fast-paced work environment during the interview.

(I personally did not mind this, because I have been working in similar environments throughout my more than ten years in the workforce.)

- At the beginning of the interview, the interviewer seemed not to know that an interview had been scheduled for that day. She was not even very familiar with the name of the HR representative who had arranged my interview. (This made me feel somewhat uncomfortable.)

- Most of the questions the interviewer asked proactively were more conversational in nature, while there were relatively few questions about professional expertise. Instead, I asked more questions in return.

- I am not sure whether it was because it was close to lunchtime or because my answers were not good enough, but the entire process was very quick and lasted less than an hour.

Cons

Because the time arranged by HR was 11:30, and the interviewer seemed to have just been notified at the last minute that there was an interview that day when she came in and explained things, it made me feel somewhat disrespected.

The interviewer is very important, so I can only blame my bad luck in this regard, along with the fact that the interview was close to the midday break. For those considering applying, I suggest thinking carefully about the interview time from the outset.
