The company environment is pretty ordinary, resembling the decor of a typical traditional manufacturing company. The benefits and conditions are very old-fashioned (nothing more than the usual “weather the difficulties together” and vague promises of a bright future).

Red flag: The manager who interviewed me appeared humble on the surface, but in her words she proudly revealed that she had broken out of decades of being a housewife and transformed into the company’s vice president. However, I felt a chill as I listened and wondered whether there was something wrong with this company. Why would they put someone who had not worked for decades in charge of the company’s most important revenue-generating business division? At that point, I decided that even if I were hired, I would decline the position...

Also, during the interview we discussed some ideas about doing sales. The interviewing manager’s ideas were very difficult to agree with—not merely unrealistic, but also somewhat naively optimistic. I suspect that working under her might not go very smoothly or efficiently.
