Pros

The interactions with coworkers can feel fake, but they maintain a surface-level harmony. If you can meet your performance targets, the pay is pretty good.

Cons

The job responsibilities are unclear. I’ve already been here for three years, and today’s workflow doesn’t mean it will be the same tomorrow. Changes are not announced either; you only find out that something has changed when your supervisor catches you doing it wrong.

For positions at or above store manager, the company prefers external hires. There are almost no managers who get promoted directly from within. In particular, one assistant general manager really likes employees who have worked at Apple. I really don’t understand why. Is having worked at Apple somehow more prestigious? This is especially puzzling.

The efficiency of handling matters is extremely poor. Questions you ask your supervisor may never get answered. (But questions your supervisor asks and tasks they assign must be responded to immediately.)

You only get a bonus if you meet your performance targets; otherwise, you just receive the base salary! Even during anniversary sales, if you don’t meet the sales target, your take-home pay is less than NT$30,000.

The customer always comes first. If a customer says they want to return a product, all they have to do is call the company, and even if the machine has already been unboxed and used, or the vacuum cleaner has been used, they will still tell us to accept the return.

Other situations, such as setting up or dismantling temporary counters, count as mandatory unpaid overtime. You won’t receive overtime pay or compensatory leave! They claim that reporting the overtime hours would violate the Labor Standards Act, so it is always treated as mandatory unpaid overtime.

If you don’t know what to do for the time being, you can come here as a transitional job. It’s a job you can do for at most three or four years.
