Those who want to exchange more time for more money can go, but the extra hours are not paid as overtime; they are all off the books.
It is simply exchanging time for money.
Otaru Handmade Coffee
The Pasta Bar
Yakin Honke Western Restaurant
A-Mao Stone-Pot Risotto
A-Mao Tea Room
All of these were opened by the same selfish and greedy owner, Mr. Lin. The company registrations can all be found in the records. He is stingy, greedy, and knowingly violates the law. You can check the Taipei City Government’s comprehensive list of businesses and business owners found to have violated the Labor Standards Act, but an inspection is only likely if the person involved files a complaint.

Almost everyone who remains there is like this: they pressure you to give up break time, pressure you to accept unpaid overtime, pressure you to work more hours, and pressure you to stay past your scheduled leaving time.
I have also seen them pressure the accountant and general affairs staff to support Otaru Coffee on weekdays and holidays—mostly holidays. In any case, they never hire enough people, and they never have enough staff.

At Otaru Handmade Coffee, where I used to work:
The raises and bonuses mentioned during the interview never materialized. The money in the tip box would decrease, but you would not receive any of it.
They simply want to squeeze everything out of you.
As an hourly part-time worker, when it was busy, they wanted you to work extra hours; when it was not busy, they wanted you to leave early.
During the pandemic, they laid off employees from the other stores,
and still required support at the factory.
At first, they may treat you well, but gradually everything revolves around the store manager, followed by her family and friends. Yet she would say that she treated everyone well—so often that she even came to believe it herself.
When forcing you to resign, they would also belittle and berate you in all sorts of ways.
